Booktalks Online

Librarians, teachers, and students are creating and sharing booktalks online. The following are a few locations that you can visit to see a variety of booktalks.  If you know or find some other good sites please send me a note (

Video Booktalk Locations

The following list contains a number of locations for booktalks online.

bullet Apple Education Language Arts: | 
Search for  "Short Story Commercials" and "Book Advertisements". Both provide example videos with associated lesson plans.
bullet Book Movie Trailers: 
Five video booktalk videos created by teens at the Tucson Pima Public Library.
bullet Booktalk Slideshows:
Three video versions of booktalks presented though still images.
bullet Bookwink: 
25 video booktalks in sets of two or three divided up by reading topic.
bullet Cougar Paw’dCast:
A number of video booktalks presented by Dalton Middle School students.
bullet Digital Booktalks©:
Over 40 very high quality production booktalks (QuickTime)
bullet Google Video: 
In a general search of the site there were over 200 video booktalks found.
bullet HarperCollinsCanada's Trailers for Books:
Site provides over 15 different books including Planet Earth by Tony Juniper, Run by Ann Patchett, The Bad Beginning and The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket.
bullet Picture Book Video Award:
This single booktalk on the book Flotsam, won the 2006 picture book video award.
bullet Pima County Public Library Teen Zone:
This site has Teen Trailers (Book Movie Trailers), well created video booktalks including Cut, The Stranger, Stones in Water, The House of the Scorpion, and Hangman's Curse
bullet Prairie Middle Students Video Book Talks: 
Seventeen booktalks by middle school students about their selected books.
A large number of video booktalks can be found by simple searching including Sirena, and The Tail of Emily Windsnap, Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos, The Wright 3, and From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

Shows the top three book videos for teen books.
bullet VidLit: 
Provides over sixty booktalk videos
A large number of video booktalks can be found by simple searching including Fly on the Wall, Born to Rock, Warriors into the Wild, The King of Attolia, Midnight Bayou, The Giver, The Rules of Survival, Helen Keller, The Yiddish Policeman's Union, and Fanboy and Gothgirl
